Share to CrossPaste — One-Tap Import, Auto Sync
Found something worth keeping? No need to copy it and switch back to the app. With the HarmonyOS share sheet, you can send content from any app into CrossPaste with one tap and have it sync automatically to all your devices.
The primary entry point while in the background
HarmonyOS doesn't allow apps to read the clipboard in the background, so CrossPaste won't record what you copy once it moves to the background. The share sheet is the fastest way to get content into CrossPaste in that situation.
1. How to Use
It works exactly like sharing content anywhere else:
- Select content in any app and tap Share.
- Choose CrossPaste from the system share sheet.
- The content is automatically imported into your pasteboard history.
That's it — the content is saved in CrossPaste and synced to your other devices over the local network.
2. Supported Types
| Type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Text | Plain text, selected text |
| HTML | Rich content with formatting preserved |
| Image | Gallery photos, screenshots, web images |
| File | A single PDF, document, archive, etc. |
One file at a time
The current version supports one file per share. To send multiple files, share them one by one.
3. Scenarios
- Web clipping: Save a useful excerpt from an article in your browser to CrossPaste
- Image transfer: Share a picture from social media to CrossPaste and use it on your computer
- File transfer: Share a file from your phone to CrossPaste and it's ready on your desktop right away
- Cross-app collaboration: Share from one app and use it in a different app on another device
4. Foreground Copy vs. Share to CrossPaste
| Foreground Copy | Share to CrossPaste | |
|---|---|---|
| Operation | Copy while CrossPaste is in the foreground | Share sheet > CrossPaste |
| Works in background | No (system restriction) | Yes |
| Images / files | Requires tapping Paste to authorize | Imported directly |
| Auto sync | Yes | Yes |
Both methods complement each other
Copying is most convenient while you're organizing content inside CrossPaste; the share sheet lets you save from other apps without switching. Combine both for maximum efficiency.
